Legal Research Tips

This page contains tips, web pages, and resources that will aid you in your legal research.  For a list of legal research resources go to the following site for Terrye Conroy’s updated list of free legal web resources:  www.law.sc.edu/library/research_aids/internet_legal_resources.shtml

For those of us who prefer looking at examples of citations to constructing our own from scratch using The Bluebook, Cornell’s Introduction to Basic Legal Citation by Peter W. Martin provides an “Examples” link. Check it out!

Also take a look at the slim but helpful User’s Guide to the Bluebook, by Alan Dworksy. Get some tips from the man who says the Bluebook is “too long, too complicated, and too picky”. Two copies of this book are available from the Reserve Room, KF245. B483 2006.
